Why is it important to have an Incident Crisis Management Program with an “all hazards” approach? Put simply, such a program provides for effective coordination of activities among management and the crisis teams having a response role. This coordination allows for early warning, clear instructions and communications to all concerned during a crisis. When reviewing programs it is crucial to ensure that a structured process is in place that allows for the continued assessment of actual/current risks which include risks to the psychological issues which responders and employees may be facing in a Crisis Situation. When properly incorporated into a program, the potential consequences of a crisis can be synergistically combined with the Emergency Plan and the Business Continuity Plan.
